Job Description: Mail Production WorkerHIRING FOR ALL SHIFTS INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND OVERNIGHTS:Shift Schedules:Weekends- Fri-Sun, 6am-6pm, 40 hours pay for 36 hours of work1st Shift: 5am-3pm M-Th2nd Shift: 3pm-1am M-ThOvernights: Fri-Sun, hours vary. Work 36 hours get paid for 40.JOB SUMMARY:As a Mail Production Worker, you will work in many areas of the mail production environment including but not limited to OCR, Inkjet, Tabbing, Folding, and Inserting, Metering Machine Operations and Hand Fulfillment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:MACHINE OPERATION:Perform proper machine start-up and shut down procedures.Operate presorting machines to sort and barcode mail received from customers while maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.Understands machine software and how and when to change sort plans, set address blocks, etc.Maximizes read rates on the mail by making appropriate adjustments.Assures the machine is running properly.Remove mail from sort pockets of the mail sorting equipment and place in the matching mail tray that is designated to receive mail from that pocketMonitor quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, barcodes, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.Communicates errors and recognizes bad barcodes found in the mail to prevent re-work of mail.Troubleshoot and remove mail piece jams from machine by avoiding damage to the mail and to avoid double counts on the machine.Tag and palletize full mail trays according to USPS requirements.Complete end of run production tasks (i.e. proper disposition of extra mail, placement of bins, stocking trays and tag holders, stocking all supplies needed to run production, etc.).INSERT/INKJET/TAB/FOLDING MACHINE OPERATION:Perform proper machine start-up and shut down procedures.Operate assigned equipment according to the job tickets and sample boards, with minimal supervision.Reads, reviews and interprets instructions on job ticket using key information for set ups and operations, including trouble shooting and correction as necessary.Checks and verifies job components against job ticket to codes and other key information and indicators.Ability to read and understand USPS reports, rosters and tray tag information.Maintain, complete, and verify paperwork for each production run documenting: production run time, spoilage, down time, maintenance sheets, postal information, meter readings, and other production logs as directed by supervisor.Checks accuracy of paperwork pertaining to job, including counts, tray tags, box labels, samples and seeds.Sort, tray, strap and prepare finished mail pieces in compliance with U.S. Postal regulations.POSTAGE/MAINFEST MACHINE OPERATION:Verify that items are addressed correctly and earmarked appropriately for proper postage and in suitable condition for processing.Weigh packages or letters to determine postage needed, using weighing scales and rate charts.Affix Postage and seal letters and packages using postage meters.Use PC with mailing machine and electronic scale to produce mailing labels for shipments.Place outgoing letters or packages into trays, sacks or bins based on destination or type, and place identifying tags on the sacks or bins.Clean mailroom and shipping area as required insuring quality control.Process mailing reports.HAND FULFILLMENT OPERATION:Perform hand collating and folding projects as assigned.Perform manual taping and/or gluing projects as assigned.Perform machine operations including shrink-wrapping, slitting, drilling, round cornering, padding, etc. as assigned.Read and understand the Job "Work Order" for instructions and specifications specific to the manufacturing of a job. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
