*TITLE:* Irrigation Worker [Test Plot Worker lll]*DEPARTMENT: *Breeding/R&D*REPORTS TO:* Technical Grower*LOCATION:* Watsonville, CA*CLASSIFICATION:* Seasonal, [40 hours of work per week]*PAY RANGE:* 18.00 to 20.50 Hourly pay (depending on experience)*JOB SUMMARY:*This position will support the Technical Grower in performing numerous tasks related to growing substrate crops (Irrigation management, lysimeter tracking, fertilizer mixing, material ordering, monitoring overall plant health, etc.)*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*:· Walk test plots regularly to scout for crop issues and coordinate with the Technical Grower and Supervisors to implement pest control, irrigation and plant nutrition.· Make daily irrigation adjustments based on lysimeter data and with guidance of Technical Grower.· Monitor and assist in checking overall plant health.· Check irrigation lines and plants multiple times a day to ensure proper irrigation.· Monitor and maintain lysimeter stations. Log data and email on a daily basis.· Ensure injection system and computer are in working order.· Monitor fertilizer and acid tanks levels.· Accurately mix fertilizers and maintain nutrient inventory.· Routinely clean filters for irrigation systems.· Schedule and coordinate the maintenance of ranch as needed.· Assist the Technical Grower with oversight and execution during special project design, installation, and daily/weekly management of such projects.· Maintains a safe and professional work environment by complying with all Driscoll’s policies and trainings in pesticide application, irrigation, safety, etc.· Ensures the security of all Driscoll’s proprietary and confidential information.· Performs other duties as assigned, related to agricultural operations.· This job description is intended to describe the general nature of work performed by employees in this job.
