JOB DESCRIPTION*TITLE:* R&D Technician III [Hybrid Seed Breeding]*REPORTS TO:* Hybrid Seed Breeder*DEPARTMENT: *Global Breeding*LOCATION:* Oxnard, CA*HOURLY PAY RANGE: *$19.57 -$23.48*CLASSIFICATION:* Seasonal [40 hours per week]*SEASON LENGTH:* September to April*ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY -Job Summary *The Hybrid Seed Breeding Technician III is a working leader position that will perform specific duties to ensure the overall success of the Raspberry Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations. Specific duties will include: leadership responsibilities of a specific team, sub-department, sub-function or process. The position will work across hybrid material grown onsite and will have the responsibility of people oversight. There is a strong emphasis on productivity, attention to detail, employee safety and teamwork, leadership, independence and understanding of processes.*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** General responsibilities include pollination, seed extraction, sowing, transplanting, tray filling, packing, harvesting, pruning, grafting and general cleaning of plant materials.* General responsibilities are to be executed with productivity and safety in mind following the established standardized procedures.* Leadership responsibilities may include:- Oversight of Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations Crew.-Oversight of Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations Program.-Lead Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations department in the absence of HSB Leadership Team.* Working on special department projects under the direction of the Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations Manager/Supervisor that may include data collection, field trials, etc.* Ensures the safe keeping of propriety varieties and confidential information.* Follows company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business - like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, etc.* Performs other duties as assigned by Hybrid Seed Breeding Operations Leadership Team.*CANDIDATE PROFILE-Requirements** Bachelor’s degree preferred.* A minimum of four years of work experience in a similar field or an equivalent combination of higher-level education and work experience.* Biology, Agriculture and Life Sciences.* Operation of instruments to measure plant and fruit traits.* Excel Beginner/Intermediate.* Basic bilingual communication skills required [English and Spanish].* Previous leadership experience preferred – including the ability to develop, coach and lead a team.*Preferred Qualifications** Previous leadership experience preferred – including the ability to develop, coach and lead a team.* Ability to work independently with technology as required.* Candidate must be reliable, disciplined, detail oriented and self-motivated.* Basic bilingual communication skills preferred [English and Spanish].
