We are seeking a Manual Machinist in our Lubbock, TX manufacturing branch.Our Manual Machinist sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, manual lathes and mills machine, metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.* Identify and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.* Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirement.* Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.* Set up, adjust and operate of the machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.* Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.* Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, shapers, etc.* Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.* Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.* Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.* Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.* Verifies dimensions and alignment of materials.* Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be manufactured.* Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.* Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.* Employee will be required to follow any job-related instructions and perform any other jobs duties requested by any authorized supervisor and/or the Branch manager.*Minimum Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Skills)** This position requires the individual to read, write and comprehend the English language.* Read blueprints/shop drawings.* At minimum, properly operate the following equipment: Manual Engine Lathe, Manual Milling machine, Manual drill press, arbor press, bearing press, overhead Jib Crane and in time, pass and maintain OSHA Forklift certification, continue self-improvement, and must handle self as an NPC employee in a professional manner.* It is critical that the employee display the following attributes: dependability, orderliness, attendance, quality of work, productivity, initiative, cooperation, and overall knowledge development are all keys to performing this job successfully.*Physical Requirements/Work Environment*The Manual Machinist Associate must be able to stand for long periods of time, be able to lift at least 50 pounds, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch, be able to reach all file cabinets and drawers, be able to talk & hear and be proficient with the English language in both verbal and written skills. Specific vision requirements are to have close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
