PART-TIME*Seasonal *Part-Time *R&D Technician [Host Resistance Technician]**Position:* R&D Technician [Host Resistance Assistant/Technician]*Seasonal Position: *10 months*Part-Time:* 36hr/ week*Location:* Cassin Ranch, Watsonville*Hourly Pay: *20.00*Job Description*-* To assist Host Resistance team in day-to-day operations.* Assist in evaluating disease and insect pest resistance to important pathogens and insect pests of all the four berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries) we work with.* Assist in setting up experiments and data collection.* Help with day to day activities in greenhouse and in lab, occasionally in test plots.* Help with media preparation.* Maintain lab cleanliness.* Perform other duties as assigned.*Requirements** Comfortable working with plant pathogens (fungal and bacterial) and insect pests.* Detail oriented* Comfortable working in lab, greenhouse and field conditions.* Be able to stand long hours during experiment set up and data collection* Be able to work under hot and humid conditions in the greenhouse* Be able to lift 30 lbs. weight* Valid driver’s license required* Ability to learn new tasks quickly* Ability to work independently as well as in a team* Ability to use MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint_Prefer those with a degree in Biological Sciences or working towards such degree__/*/*No lab experience needed (however preferred) and all training will be provided._Job Type: Part-timePay: $20.00 per hourBenefits:* Employee discount* Referral programWork Location: In person
