Job Title:Machine Operator (Tile Fabricator)Type of Position:6-to-12-month contract to hire roleCandidate Requirements:This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) to be eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B, TN, or other visas are not eligible.Job Location:Phoenix, AZ (not far from Guadalupe, AZ).Compensation:$18.50/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. Regular overtime is expected to be available in this role.Benefits:Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.Overview:HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense, security, and aerospace company to hire a Machine Operator (Tile Fabricator). This role is responsible for the cutting and grinding of ceramic materials according to blueprint specifications. This position reports to the Group Leader or Production Supervisor for assignments and support. The role requires cross-training and proficiency in all functions performed in the tile cutting room.Responsibilities:Set up saws, grinders, and other equipment necessary for cutting, grinding, and drilling tile or armor panels to specified requirements.Hand grind billets or use a surface grinder as needed.Identify billets and accurately lay out parts to be cut.Ensure all work meets required specifications and quality standards.Label finished parts with appropriate part numbers.Assist with the daily cleanup of the tile cutting area and maintain a safe working environment.Support and assist less-experienced Tile Fabricators with setups and layouts.Conduct Statistical Process Control (SPC) as required by procedures.Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.Skills, Education, Experience Required:High school diploma or GED is required.Machine Shop or Vocational Technology training, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Experience setting up machines in the tile cutting room, introductory experience with surface grinders, and experience processing aluminum oxide and boron carbide tile.Skilled in using basic hand and power tools.Ability to read blueprints and perform mathematics including trigonometry and algebra.Knowledge of mechanical environments and related applications.Work Environment:This is a 1st (day) shift role working 4 10s (typically Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days).There will be regular overtime available in this role.
