Job Title:Composites TechnicianType of Position:6-to-8-month contract to hire roleCandidate Requirements:This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) to be eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B, TN, or other visas are not eligible for this role.Job Location:Phoenix, AZ (not far from Guadalupe, AZ).Compensation:$21.50/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. Regular overtime is expected to be available in this role.Benefits:Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.Overview:HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense, security, and aerospace company to hire a Composites Technician. In this role you will perform fabrication and assembly activities involving a wide range of composite materials such as fibrous, epoxy, plastics, ceramics, and alloys. You will be responsible for constructing simple to complex sub-assemblies and armor panel assemblies using common hand and power tools for cutting, trimming, and grinding according to work orders, templates, and shop instructions.Responsibilities:Applying and mixing release agents, sealants, solvents, adhesives, and resins on a daily basis.Adhering to established quality levels and completing tasks efficiently within designated timeframes and workspaces.Following detailed instructions and maintaining accuracy while adapting to various projects.Using measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.Complying with all company safety policies and procedures.Performing additional tasks as assigned, related to aircraft seat cushion component assembly, including bonding, cutting, and grinding of foams, plastics, and laminated materials using methods similar to those used in armor panel manufacturing.Skills, Education, Experience Required:High school diploma or GED is required.Minimum of 1 year of experience in a production assembly environment and/or technical schooling in related fields, or an approved combination of experience, technical training, and/or education.Proficiency in using both hands for manipulating, handling, and constructing composite assemblies with basic hand tools, pneumatic or electric power tools, and other mechanical processes.Ability to move, pull, lift, and horizontally transfer products weighing up to forty pounds unaided.Ability to read and follow work instructions and work order-specific information.Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:Technical institute certifications and/or degree or equivalent combination.Work Environment:This is a 1st (day) shift role working 4 10s (typically Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days).There will be regular overtime available in this role. Overtime will be paid at 1.5x.This role will require standing for ten-hour shifts.
