Senior Systems Engineer Remote Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Government Agency clearance. Per Federal Government Sector, must be able to pass federal guidelines for security clearance. ALTA IT Services is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to work with a well-known Government Contractor in Northern Virginia. The job is currently remote and may move on-site in the future. This is an exciting organization with a significant presence in Federal contracting. The Senior Systems Engineer (Sr. SE) will install, configure, maintain and support activities related to a variety of program tools and support applications. The Sr. SE will actively participate in integrated product teams and engage vendors to provide guidance and gain knowledge to ensure program support applications/tools are implemented, configured and deployed successfully to integrate and complement core company system components. The successful candidate will have a proven track record exhibiting multiple, successful implementations of software hosted on Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and/or Windows server architectures; and will demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning new applications and taking on new challenges. What you''ll get to do: Provide general systems engineering support for a large, complex, interconnected system with both physical and virtual environments hosting multiple operating systems, including Windows, Solaris and Linux Apply STIGs and on-going maintenance of multiple software applications and tools utilized by the program application administrators, developers, testers, and support staff Participate in planning and implementation of system security patches and upgrades to the system, software, and firmware Troubleshoot application and tools support problem and work with data center support staff to address issues requiring intervention Support the design, development and ongoing operations of the system tools and support applications Enforce and comply with program change management processes, business standards, policies, and procedures Supporting the Testing team for Functional/Security and Performance Testing Work closely with other application administrators, development teams, and test teams to define requirements and develop solutions to complex problems Work closely with DBAs, BI Dev, PeopleSoft Dev, and Security teams to monitor and improve performance and data quality Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet program goals and deliverable objectives Manage and maintain technical documentation, including Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables Perform other tasks and activities as assigned or as directed by the Infrastructure Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university Active SECRET clearance, SSBI preferred Active Security+ certification 7-9 years'' relevant work experience to include: 5+ years of proven experience with the analysis, planning, design, implementation, upgrades and migrations of applications hosted on Solaris and/or Red Hat Linux 3+ years of proven experience with Java in a Windows and Solaris/Linux environment Installation and configuration of applications using Red Hat Linux Installation and configuration of applications using Oracle Solaris Installation and configuration of applications using Windows 2012R2 Experience with Unix shell scripting and Windows PowerShell Implementation experience with high availability architecture and experience with application of STIGs The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of web servers, application servers, Java EE, XML, Web Services, SOAP, WSDL, authorization & authentication strategies and F5; aptitude for learning and rapidly mastering new applications and technology; proven mastery of troubleshooting techniques and the ability to solve problems quickly when working with Integrated Product Teams; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong focus on customer service and solution ownership Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple, dynamic and competing priorities; excellent oral/written communication skills. Qualifications that are nice to have: Experience with High-Availability and Disaster Recovery architecture and configuration Experience with SSO and multiple authentication providers Experience with Oracle Superclusters, Solaris, Database, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy administration, and HBSS (preferably in a DoD or DISA data center) Experience developing solutions and designs to support reporting and business processes using high-volume data sources across SDLC environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod) Experience providing production support; working knowledge of multiple Oracle application components Solid understanding of SSL and non-SSL, proxy and reverse-proxy servers, single sign-on technologies Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Administration Experience working with DoD or Army data centers.
