Payroll Tax Accountant

The Payroll Tax Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and tax functions related to preparing, analyzing, maintaining and reviewing various payroll tax returns, general ledger balances, financial records and reports, and financial statements in compliance with government regulations. Essential Functions: Prepare and timely file all payroll tax returns and payments including federal, state and local tax withholding, social security taxes and unemployment taxes for the US.Maintain tax rate information and communicate updates to payroll and IT.Assist the Director of Tax on all payroll tax examinations including the gathering of information, document requests, analyzing proposed adjustments and other related duties.Assist the Director of Tax to resolve and timely respond to notices from tax authorities.Team with Accounting and Payroll Departments to identify and correct any errors related to the filing of payroll tax returns.Reconcile payroll taxes to the general ledgerReconcile payroll reports to 941s and W-2cProvide back-up for the Director of Tax of the review of the daily cash reports.Assist with the preparation of work-papers for the company''s tax return.Approve outgoing wire and Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Requires a Bachelor''s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent experienceMinimum of two years'' experience in Payroll Tax filing.High degree of attention to detail and conscientious with high level of accuracy is a must to prevent company exposure to tax penalties/assessments, and to ensure a high degree of compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.Strong communication, interpersonal skills and general knowledge in Adobe applications, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and AS400Newly Weds Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Veterans/Females/Disabled Newly Weds Foods will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States without assistance or support from Newly Weds Foods.
