Broadcast Hub Operator

"‹TEGNA is building a new broadcast operations hub in Charlotte, NC and we are seeking hub operators to join our team. This position is part of a team responsible for the live operation, monitoring and support of multiple stations 24 by 7 in a single centralized environment. This position will perform duties to ensure the on-air integrity of multiple network programming feeds and provide immediate response to emergency situations that may affect on-air programming. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team."‹ Responsibilities: "‹Maintain and manipulate on-air playlists, execute program/commercial/marketing changes, support live-event and off-air workflows, send logs for reconciliation and troubleshoot channel playout issuesResponsible for the ingest and quality control of broadcast materials into all automation systemsManage commercial integration, including rolling commercial breaks, during taped and live programmingMonitor and maintain the continuity and availability for multiple channel streamsEnsure continuity of programming by confirming that every piece of material is accounted for and ready for on-air playoutAct as first line responders for internal clientsVigilantly protect our air by simulating the experience of a viewer and constantly checking for proper audio, video, captioning and picture qualityWith the guidance of Technical Managers and supervisors, work as a team to promptly recover from any on-air discrepanciesOther duties as assigned Here''s what you need: BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experienceBasic understanding of television production, broadcast operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirementsProficient in Excel and the entire Microsoft O365 suite of toolsKnowledge of and ability to use electronic equipment and computer hardware and software related to television broadcast operations, including video and audio routing equipment, file servers, remote transmitter monitoring equipment and multi-channel automation systemsAbility to troubleshoot, take immediate action, and resolve broadcast issuesStrong customer service attributes and skillsStrong organization and time management skillsUnwavering composure in high-pressure situationsAcute attention to detailExcellent interpersonal communication skillsExperience working successfully as part of a teamMust be willing to work in Charlotte, North CarolinaMust be willing and available to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays in order to meet the needs of a 24x7 operation"‹Desired: 2+ years of experience in a master control or production control room television environmentProven passion for media, television, and technology
