Hyster-Yale Group is looking for a talented embedded controls software engineer with a strong desire to learn and grow with our controls team in the Portland, Oregon area. This global development center develops materials handling solutions for the present and future. Current projects include: developing new forklift products, fuel cells and advanced battery technology; supporting existing products. Engineer I or II Minimum Qualifications: BS in EE, CE, ME with controls focus, or similar Coursework in closed loop controls Experience with C or Simulink Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Simulink model development. Experience developing software to control a physical device Awareness of data communications (e.g. J1939, CAN) Familiar with agile software development practices Proficiency in C programming language. Exposure to configuration management tools such as Git or Subversion Essential Qualities: Functions well in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments. Ability and willingness to operate industrial equipment (e.g. Fork Truck) Driven to see tasks through to completion Innovative thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving. Ability to follow established procedures. Attentive to details to ensure accuracy in design and documentation. Exhibits good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues. Occasional travel may be required (less than 10% total time).
