Description Job Summary: Responsibilities for general analyst duties for the COSCI Major Maintenance Group. • Assists with preparation of TMG major maintenance yearly departmental budget and five-year forecast. • Prepares and analyzes assigned monthly variance analysis and cost statements including forecast updates. • Position will be involved in development of and preparation of various department processes and metrics. • Coordinates with outage directors/managers and planning & scheduling to understand project scope and cost drivers. • Assists in development of detailed project forecasts for outage projects based on planned scope. • Analyzes project-level cost drivers and develops scenario-analysis for decision makers. • Coordinates with outage project managers to collect and report project cost information to Outage Services Management and Accounting. • Stay informed of schedule changes and its impact to scopes and forecast to support outage directors and planners • Assists in preparation of monthly internal management reporting packages on results of outages, which includes variance analysis. • Familiarity with MSA contracts as it applies to outages and any spend level commitment • Develops and maintains job processes and procedures. • Other duties and special projects as assigned. Job Responsibilities: • Compiles and analyzes financial information; conducts special financial studies and maintains abreast of industry trends. • Highly skilled professional with wide-ranging, advanced technical experience to resolve complex issues. • Competent to work at very high level in multiple knowledge areas or functions as an advanced contributor. • Experienced professional with full understanding of job, company and industry practices. • Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline. • Solves operational problems and associated technical issues; modifies existing tools, techniques or processes. • Functions with minimum guidance and under pre-set procedures with attention to detail. • Works on problems of moderate complexity. • Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices. • Interprets guidelines, select methods, techniques and analytical approach • Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. • May be designated project or subject matter expert for an ongoing process or short-term project within own department. • Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instruction and reporting results. • Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve significant issues, clarify or interpret complex information, provide initial screening/negotiations. Requirements • Bachelor''s Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related discipline. Related experience will be considered. • Requires 6-8 years'' experience in related field. • Critical thinking, financial and data analysis skills with a high proficiency in MS Excel • PeopleSoft, Maximo experience a plus Vaccination Information: Calpine requires an individual who is newly hired into this position to be vaccinated for COVID-19 within the first 28 days of employment - if not already vaccinated prior to starting employment.
