Job Description

Responsible for inspection, evaluation, training and technical support for onsite construction team to ensure compliance with Health and Safety program and agency regulations. As a Health & Safety Specialist III within the Houston, Texas District, you will be assigned to an associated project office while spending a majority of your time in the field supporting your assigned project(s). Travel within the State of Texas to other projects for support, may be required from time to time. You will have the opportunity to help maintain, and establish, the infrastructure within the state. As a Health & Safety Specialist III, you will be responsible for working directly with the project teams, and the project managers, as well as in supporting the Texas District Safety Manager in the implementation, and the compliance of, company safety policies and procedures. Provide assistance and safety support to your assigned project(s) and to the project management team(s).Assist the Texas District Safety Manager as directed.Assist in investigating project incidents, and work directly with operations in the completing of the required reports in a timely manner.Administer the company drug, and alcohol program.Conduct, and participate in, safety audits.Coordinate, and conduct, safety-training activities on ventory, and order, safety supplies, and materials, as needed.Conduct new hire orientations, and supervisor orientations.Attend pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other required meetings, in the absence of the Texas District Safety Manager.Maintain knowledge of Flatiron''s company values, and strategic safety plan.Support published corporate safety policies, and procedures.Perform any additional safety assignments, and duties, at the direction of the Project Manager, or the Texas District Safety Manager. Degreed - Associates or Bachelor''s degree in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited institution, and seven to fourteen years of safety experience. The following certifications: CSP, ASP, GSP, is preferred, but not required. Heavy Civil / Airport safety experience is a plus.Non-Degreed - Must have between seven and fourteen years of safety experience. The following certifications: CHST, OHST, CSHO, is preferred, but not required. Heavy Civil / Airport safety experience is a plus.A Federal background check will be required for airport projects.Bi-Lingual (preferred).
