POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Supervisor, NSSS Piping & Integration, this position is part of the NSSS design engineering organization that generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. In this role, you will assist in the design and stress analysis of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) pipe systems in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III Subsections NB, NC, and ND, and applicable regulatory requirements. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs piping stress analysis of ASME BPVC Section III Class 1, 2, and 3 piping systems using the Bentley AutoPIPE computer program. Performs static and dynamic analysis including response spectrum and time history analysis to calculate stresses due to deadweight, thermal expansion, thermal gradients, seismic events, and fluid transients. Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, CAD models, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of piping components associated with NSSS systems. The development of Drawings and CAD models is based on collaboration with drafters and requires the engineer to reviews models that have been developed in Siemens NX. Offers design solutions (piping re-route, reconfiguration of supports, etc.) in order to satisfy piping stress criteria. Works on complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas. Interprets scope and project requirements. Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications. Quality Assurance: Demonstrates understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required. Advanced degree is preferred. PE License in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering is desireable. Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of highly relevant, full-time engineering experience is required. An expert level of knowledge is required in one or more of the following areas: Engineering design and piping stress engineering analysis, preferably in the nuclear industry. Experience with the Bentley AutoPIPE or other comparable pipe analysis code. Experience with the qualification of piping systems including ball joints is Experience with ASME Section III NB 3200 and ANSYS is Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
