Jacobs is NASA''s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. We are looking for a Shipping & Receiving Technician I to join our team. Do you have the following skills? This is a JETS CBA position with Jacobs. The Shipping & Receiving Technician I will: Inspect all incoming material for condition, identification, quantity, and compliance with purchase orders. Notify the supervisor of any discrepancies. Record or log items that are received or shipped in the proper database and/or hardcopy process. Identify incoming flight-oriented material and notify Quality Assurance. Package items to prevent damage when shipping or transporting. Affix identifying tag(s) to equipment as directed and in compliance with property and receiving procedures/requirements. Maintain the work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Work will be under direct supervision except for simple tasking. Transport materials, documents, and mail as requested or directed. Maintain storage areas located in the shipping and receiving areas. Store received items in flammable storage cabinets or refrigerators, as required. Operate material handling equipment. May need to lead or escort subcontractors when needed. Impact on cost of operations and equipment. Perform related duties as required. Required Skills: Requires High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes. Valid driver''s license and ability to pass the defensive driving course. Preferences: Handling of NASA flight hardware. Previous shipping and receiving experience or other related logistics services. Knowledge of quality inspection processes. Forklift operation. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. Essential Functions: Physical Requirements: Requires Constant: Reaching for, handling, and manipulating objects and materials in all directions. Coordinating eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment. Standing. Seeing and hearing with or without correction. Requires Frequent: Climbing and maintaining ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level. Requires Occasional: Lifting to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level, and overhead. Carrying up to 25 pounds for 5 yards. Bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling from 1 to 30 minutes at a time. Requires the ability to: Following set procedures and standards. Applying basic mathematical skills. Planning work and select proper tools. Comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. Picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked. Following oral and written directions, plans and blueprints. Ability to recognize and report safety hazards. Work Environment: Lab/industrial environment. Cleanroom/chamber environment. Office environment. Work may be performed at low and/or high elevations, work performed in confined areas. Exposure to various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc. Other JSC test facilities. Equipment and Machines: Operate pushcarts for transporting hardware. Use hand/power tools and test instruments for troubleshooting electrical systems and performing repairs. Operate computer workstations and peripheral equipment in support of administrative requirements. Attendance: Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. Other Essential Functions: Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to effectively interface with facility test team members.
