HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. HYG is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the organization and the powertrain development team. This position plays an important role in creating, modifying, and implementing designs to address customer needs. This individual interacts with all aspects of the organization, including marketing, manufacturing, procurement, and design, to ensure that we deliver quality forklift trucks that meet customer requirements and acceptance. Join our team as we take forklift design to the next level. Responsibilities: Manage the engineering concept, design, release, and verification activities of electric drivetrain systems (axles, motors, transmissions, brakes) from concept through final production. Ensure the engineering outputs meet the quality, reliability, performance, and cost expectations of the customer. Develop and manage the engineering plan/schedule for drivetrain projects. Manage, mentor, and advise engineering staff assigned to the project. Manage engineering activities required to support Manufacturing, Sourcing, Marketing and Aftermarket groups. Take a leadership role in Identifying and implementing improved processes for product innovation, reliability, cost, development efficiency, customer responsiveness, and overall quality of work. Establish system requirements to meet customer expectations. Provide input to test plans to ensure our products meet design targets. Oversight of supplier provided hardware and validation Qualifications: Formal education with a minimum BS in Engineering. Advanced Engineering degree preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of industry experience (electric materials handling, automotive, agricultural or similar) Demonstrated experience with project management coordinating development, release, and implementation activities including resource planning, budget, scheduling, supervision, and tracking. Knowledge/skill in vehicle/automotive technology and electric motors Innovative thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to Quality: Follow established procedures and be attentive to details to ensure accuracy in design and documentation. Decision Making: Exhibit good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; demonstrate ability to take decisive actions to develop product. Systematic Problem solving: Demonstrate ability to apply basic principles and methods to resolve product issues. Teamwork and Flexibility: Function well in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments. Solicit opinions from coworkers, support group decisions, and display team spirit. Be open minded and flexible enough to work effectively in an environment where project priorities may shift in response to customer needs.
