The Senior Staff Engineer owns embedded system development from requirements through commercial launch while providing influence and contributing to engineering excellence in the field of neuromodulation. independently to effectively design new products, fixtures, and development tools in a fast-paced cross-functional design environment. Stays current on new technologies and design practices and utilizes them in new designs. Provides instruction, oversight, and mentoring to other design engineers. Exhibits quality in their work and pushes for excellence in themselves and the team. expert knowledge of sound design principles and practicesWHAT YOU''LL DOFunction as a central electrical engineering expert within and across business unitsProvide influence and contribute to engineering excellence in the field of neuromodulationCreate novel design solutions that expand the business''s intellectual propertyUnderstand internal & external customer needs and how to exceed their expectationsEnsure that program objectives are determined and met, and resources are effectively coordinatedDevelop architecture and strategy for analog and digital circuit design for embedded systemsOptimize electrical circuits through characterization, modeling, data analysis and statisticsDevelop models and/or simulations to address complex physics design problemsMaintain best in class, expert knowledge in current and novel technologies for embedded systemsDevelop team through mentorship, training, and adoption of development best practicesSimplify complex topics and communicate them effectivelyPresent to cross functional team and managementDevelop test methods and fixtures for advanced design characterizationConduct risk analysis on projects and product designsConduct root cause analysis for high priority design issuesContribute to external technical committees (ISO, EN, etc.) as a representative of AbbottEngage teams within Abbott and across the field of active implantable devices to utilize the latest technology and expertise across the businessEngage with industry regulators (FDA, BSI, etc.) to explain novel designs or technical analysis in support of device submissions"‹EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU''LL BRINGRequiredBachelor''s degree in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics or related fieldMinimum 12+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in the design of embedded PCB assemblies.Demonstrated expert knowledge of sound design principles and practicesExtensive hands-on analog & digital circuit design experience for embedded systemsExperience leading cross-functional teams and initiatives to successful outcomesWorking knowledge of electromagnetic physics and analysisExperience with firmware and software developmentAdvanced knowledge of statistics & data visualization techniquesStrong communication & presentation skillsPreferredExperience with FDA & medical device development.
