Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Dual Diagnosis, and Older Adults.The Division of Health Psychology at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a position opening for a full-time Clinician to support the Adult Primary Care Practice at Hartford Hospital Community Health. This practice is comprised of a clinically diverse team from such disciplines as medicine, nursing, nutrition, medical social work, and allied health, with over 9,000 patient visits seen annually. Job SummaryThe behavioral health clinician''s role is a very collaborative position and will include diagnostic assessment and evaluation of treatment needs of patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, coordination and consultation with primary care providers and residents, brief and evidence-based treatments for behavioral health and substance abuse problems, and effective utilization of screening measures and assessment tools. Additionally, the clinician will also be responsible for data management including tracking symptoms and treatment outcomes, participating in program development, developing and implementing psychoeducational materials for use in the primary care setting, participating in team meetings, case management, and outreach and communication with outside providers. Candidates should have experience and/or interest in working in integrated primary care or other medical settings. The ideal candidate is self-directed and capable of working independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, has cultural competency to work with a diverse patient population, and has excellent crisis management skills.Additional expectations for this role include coordination of care with the medical social work team to identify community psychiatric and social services resources, connecting patients with longer-term psychotherapy or higher levels of psychiatric care as needed, and assisting patients in staying connected with community and state resources and supports. There are opportunities for research and training (psychiatry residents and fellows, psychology trainees). There are also opportunities to provide education and training to other interdisciplinary professionals within the clinic.
