Absolutely!As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for an Principle Engineer to join our Appliances, HVAC and lighting team in Northbrook, IL., Fremont, CA. or Melville, NY.!Drives consistency, integrity and engineering quality in the establishment and application of UL product safety certification requirements that are applied by staff located at all UL offices and affiliates. Is a Qualified Reviewer for the assigned standard(s) and has working knowledge of UL safety principles and hazard-based safety engineering (HBSE). Drives consistency, integrity and engineering quality in UL Mark Program services, related to the application of lighting standards, that are provided by staff located at all global UL offices and affiliates.Develops and delivers technical training content for internal and external stakeholders. Routinely interacts with global UL lighting technical staff to provide guidance with technical requirements, Certification program policies and procedures, compliance records/ tools, etc. to help drive consistency in the application of safety standards requirements.Collaborates with lighting commercial team to provide technical feedback for proposed revised or new UL offerings related to lighting standards. Contributes to technical development of such programs.Works as a qualified reviewer for several lighting standards and has demonstrated ability to quickly learn about adjacent standards. Ability to act as technical lead for determining the acceptability of conformity assessment of new and innovative products, developing/ identifying appropriate requirements in accordance with Certification program policies and procedures for the type of service being offered.Understanding of UL policies and procedures in delivering UL Mark Program services and can work with all stakeholders to identify best practices for process efficiencies and accuracy. Participates in the relevant UL Standards Technical Panels on behalf of UL.This position may require regional and international travel (in accordance with UL travel guidelines).Performs other duties as directed.University degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program or related field plus directly related electrical engineering experience. Prior training or work history in treatment of signs within the product safety engineering framework preferred.Working knowledge of North America region (UL and CSA) lighting standards and Certification program policies/procedures.Working knowledge of Hazard Based Safety Engineering (HBSE) principles with a demonstrated ability to apply these to complex, new and innovative products.Demonstrated experience as an effective communicator and as an influencer who obtains results in external and internal cross-functional committees and groups.Working knowledge of lighting industry trends, technical issues, needs and opportunities.Working knowledge of UL''s Engineering Operations, and Follow-up Services.Working knowledge of technical vocabulary common to lighting.UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and clients.
