The core accounting team is responsible for the accounting processes related to the bank''s system which tracks loans and deposits. The position is responsible for reconciling activity directly or indirectly related to loan and deposit activity.Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:Compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.Prepares and processes journal entries as needed to clear or reclass account activityCollaborates and shares responsibility in facilitating and completing month-end close procedures to prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US piles information/reports and gathers related documentation for internal/external auditors and management in various departments in a timely manner.Collaborates with other departments including loan operations, deposit operations, and production locations to understand activity flowing through the account and to identify opportunities for improvementPrepare account reconciliations related to cash, core system clearing, loan and/or deposit balance accountsAnalyzes reconciliation activity and identifies and researches reconciling items.Escalate findings to management and report on any delays in reconciliation processPrepare account reconciliation procedures and cross train with others in the reconciliation processTrain accounting specialists on proceduresPerform other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:Knowledge of accounting principles based on GAAP and accounting best practicesDetail oriented and organized in work and ability to meet assigned deadlinesSelf-starter with a positive attitude with good organization and time management skillsProficient in ExcelAble to work in a fast-paced and agile environmentAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and resultsProficiency in an accounting ERP system(s) preferredIndustry and Work Experience:Minimum of 0-2 years of accounting experienceFinancial institution accounting experience strongly preferredStrong working knowledge of accounting functions, practices, and proceduresAcademic:Requires a Bachelor''s degreeDisclaimer:The above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
