Overview The Corporate Hospital Services Technical Consultant provides oversight to the field technical team for the overall operation, condition, maintenance, and repair of all water treatment equipment, medical equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems so as to ensure safety of the patients as well as the staff operating the equipment. The Corporate Hospital Services Technical Consultant will as needed provide education and training to the field operational technical and clinical staff on a regular basis as well as when opportunities for improvement are identified. The Corporate Hospital Services Technical Consultant will communicate with the client hospital leadership and technical team as needed in coordination with the Area Operations Director, Senior Operations Director, and or Corporate Director of Hospital Services.This position will work remotely versus in our traditional office settings, provided the selected candidate can commit to travelling 50% of the time. Responsibilities Quality of Care: 1. Facilitates the improvement of clinical, technical, and financial outcomes in contracted hospitals by helping the DCI field technical and nursing leadership team to develop quality improvement plans based on regulations and policies.2. Identifies alternative options/problem solving to improve outcomes.3. Assists in development of technical related transition strategies for new Hospital Services programs to ensure safe patient care and hospital staff support during provider transitions.4. Assists in development of plans of action required in response to hospital, CMS or accreditation agency survey.5. Monitors progression of plan of corrections by engaging with local Hospital Services leadership to facilitate improvement.6. Performs scheduled and unscheduled technical surveys of Hospital Services programs.7. Confirm the scheduled technical audits are performed by the operational staff in a timely fashion. The results are discussed with Hospital Services Department, the Senior Operations Director, the Associate Director of Education and Quality Management; and by the operational technical staff in the QAPI meetings.8. Provide quality leadership in actively supporting the QAPI process in coordination with the operational technical, clinical and administrative staff. Participates in the monthly QAPI meetings on a rotation basis.9. Coordinate closely with the Corporate Hospital Services Nurse Consultants to ensure the field technical and clinical staff are utilizing the dialysis equipment and systems, and documenting in the correct technical forms consistently.10. Performs other related duties as assigned.Training/Education: 1. Coordinate with the Corporate Hospital Services Nurse Consultants in the development of educational tools for Hospital Services Programs to use to meet regulatory and academic needs. 2. Develop educational material for on-line education program. 3. Provides education to our Hospital Services Programs on an individual level or at group presentations.4. Serves as mentor to Hospital Services Technical Managers with particular emphasis on support for new Technical munications: 1. Facilitates communication between local Hospital Services programs and the DCI Corporate office.2. Communicates with Hospital Services programs on a regular basis. Will provide informal and formal feedback to technical staff throughout the year. 3. Communicates well with Hospital Services nurse managers, technical managers, and staff using email, video and audio teleconference calls and/or one on one and on-site meetings.4. Keeps the Corporate Director of Hospital Services updated on a regular basis of various technical issues, challenges and recommendations to improve the patient quality of care and safety. 5. Will actively and consistently participate in the meetings scheduled with the Associate Director of Education and Quality Management.6. Will network with other Corporate Technical Consultants to ensure consistency of approach in the operations and management of technical issues.7. Provides advanced subject matter guidance to members of the leadership team and operational staff.8. Exchanges conceptual ideas and information effectively; uses tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.Problem Solving: 1. Facilitates gathering of information and formulating plans for problem solving related to technical/financial operations in the Hospital Services Program. 2. Facilitates unbiased assessment of all angles of problems before formulating solution.3. Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency; develops and recommends solutions to existing challenges that can be adopted broadly within the organization.4. Maintains technical manuals with current policies and procedures.Regulatory: 1. Assists with development and implementation of company template policies and procedures.2. Assists with enforcement of a core group of corporate mandated policy and procedures by educating the Hospital Services locations on possible deficiencies.3. Serves as a subject matter expert on interpretation of Medicare and State dialysis regulations, CDC and Infection Control standards, Accreditation Agency standards as well as other related healthcare agencies.
