HPL serves a population of 2.2 million citizens through a network of 37 Neighborhood Libraries spread out across the Houston area. Successful candidates will communicate effectively; provide exceptional customer service; enjoy working with, learning, and teaching new and emerging technologies, and be at ease multitasking in a fast-paced public service setting and enjoy interacting with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds.The Senior Library Service Specialist, will:Manage the college readiness center for cafécollege Houston located within the Carnegie Neighborhood LibraryResearch and gather resources for college applications, workforce development & adult literacyCompile materials, coordinates library services for non-traditional college bound populations making it easier for the public to search for colleges, take virtual tours, assess aptitudes & start the college applications.Assist in planning and conducting adult and young adult workshops for college, career & adult literacy programs.Advise college & career bound populations on college prep, college applications, financial aid & scholarship search both one-on-one and in small groups.Coordinate activities, presentations and workshops in collaboration with external community partners in regard to college & career readiness.Conduct outreach activities for cafécollege Houston: resource fairs, parent universities, PTO events, and others.Assist Division Manager of Community Education on research projects.Train cafécollege Houston staff in topics relevant to career and college readiness.Other duties as assigned.Applicants are encouraged to submit a Cover Letter and Resume when applying.
