Technical Writer- Project Delivery, Energy Storage & Optimization We are looking for a Technical Writer- Electrical Engineering ("TW") that will become a part of our growing Project Delivery Team. The TW is responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation for Energy Storage products and system design. This will include documentation for product manuals, service and maintenance procedures, technical bulletins, data sheets, etc. The TW will develop complex subject matter into thought leadership articles for the electrical engineering and manufacturing community, as well as the general Energy Storage industry. Applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management and construction, service and maintenance principals, as well as experience designing high power electrical systems. This position will be a member of Wartsila''s internal and customer technical Subject Matter Expert Team for ESS Products and Projects and will work closely with the following group: Software Delivery, Product Delivery, Project Management, Commissioning Manager and other various groups to ensure ESS projects fulfill customer functionality and contract requirements. The Technical Writer will report to the General Manager of Project Delivery. This position is a US- work from home opportunity. To be our ideal candidate you will have a Master''s Degree in in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering and 5 years'' experience with renewable energy and/or Energy Storage Systems. As a Technical Writer, you will focus on these responsibilities: Develop effective documentation that promotes self-service and efficiency for our end-users and internal employees. Establish and maintain the engineering, design criteria and applicable standards and specifications for the ESS project. Read and understand electrical and (or) mechanical drawings, submittals, specifications, and sequence of operations. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for use by the Operations and Maintenance staff. Work with System Engineers, Project Engineers, and other staff members to establish technical requirements and to determine subject material to be developed. Review documents and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods. Review project technical specifications and provide feedback to ensure that project requirements will be met. To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: Education: Minimum Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering, or equivalent work experience. 5 years'' experience with renewable energy (Solar Utility Scale) and/or Energy Storage System, Power System Design, Communication Network, and minor Software. Familiarity with lithium ion battery systems Familiarity with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC) Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction and operational concepts. Experience and comprehension of CAD drawings Experience with utility scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, PV, wind turbines, flywheels, etc.). Understanding of Inverter, Converter, Transformer, Battery, Circuit breaker, Fuse, AC/DC power supply electrical equipment. Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices.
