Job SummaryThis entry level position and or intermedidate level position available at Columbia Energy Center in Gaston, South Carolina. The candidate would be responsible for all functions relating to the operation of plant equipment, including regularly monitoring, maintaining, and checking plant equipment, isolating and tagging equipment for maintenance, and preparing equipment for operation. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceOperating Technician I (Power Generation) Minimum of 2- 5 years'' work experience in mechanical maintenance or related field is required. Chemistry sampling experience is a plus. Prior or current power and/or military power experience is also a plus. Must have a working knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors and other related equipment. Must be in good physical condition with ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs or more on a frequent basis. Must be able to safely climb tall structures at extreme heights (fixed ladders and/or stairs up to 100 feet); must be able to work during inclement weather, work overtime, call-outs, outages, and rotating shifts. Must be able to work independently and as a team player. Must have good communication/human relations skills. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Operating Technician II (Power Generation) Minimum of 2-5+ years'' work experience in mechanical or related fieldmaintenance or related field is required. Chemistry sampling experience is a plus. Prior or current power and/or military power experience is also a plus. This intermediate level position is responsible for all functions relating to the operation of plant equipment, including regularly monitoring, maintaining, and checking plant equipment, isolating and tagging equipment for maintenance, and preparing equipment for operation. This level position is also responsible for operation of a full water treatment system as well as conducting various water analysis of the equipment it supplies. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
