About the Opportunity This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] The Rate Analyst position reports to the Manager, Load Forecasting with the preferred locations being the General Office in Akron, Ohio OR Greensburg, PA. However, other FirstEnergy locations within its service territory could be considered with required travel to Akron, OH. The Load Forecasting group is responsible for preparing timely and accurate energy, peak load, and revenue forecasts for use by the business units, Rates & Regulatory Affairs, and management to support decision-making. Responsibilities include: Supporting the customer, energy, and revenue forecast processes Streamlining existing and develop new forecasting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency Effectively using data mining and analytical tools to enhance forecast processes and prepare relevant analyses Evaluating forecast input data for accuracy, with the ability to detect trends and outliers. Supporting monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc management reporting and analysis Supporting regulatory filings related to forecasts Offering ideas and suggestions to improve complex work process and projects Performing various customer analyses by effectively compiling, analyzing, and comparing large volumes of billing data Conducting business specific research and analyze data; Interpret results Providing analytical support to mid to executive level management Actively seeking ways to build, challenge, and add value within scope of assignments Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers Developing positive working relationships with employees at all levels Qualifications Bachelor''s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance, or related discipline is required. Minimum 0-2 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes intermediate data analysis and business research skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience working with large datasets. Experience with programming languages, such as Python, R, and SQL a plus. Strong critical thinking skills. Display analytical abilities, including problem solving and decision making. Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines. Sound written and verbal communication skills. Able to work in a team environment. Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and develop relationships.
