Job DescriptionThe Credit Specialist supports the Credit and Collections team by interacting with guests by telephone and email to collect past due balances. This includes responding to various inquiries for information, collection calls and/or correspondence along with providing customer service regarding collection issues, processing and reviewing for account adjustments and resolving guest discrepancies and short payments. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional 5 Star service by identifying, assessing and responding to customer/store needs and providing accurate, valid and complete information timely and effectively.Essential Functions:Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts through customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write offs, customer reconciliations and processing credit memosLocate and submit adjustments for invoices and credits that need to be removed from customer accounts monthlyAccountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accountsEnlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection processMust communicate and follow up effectively with sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basisEstablish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, stores and sales teamsReview customer invoice and statement requests and send needed documents dailyBack-up for incoming hot line callsParticipate in team planning meetingsWeekly and monthly progress reporting to direct supervisor.Meet defined department goals and activity metricsEstablish and maintain interactive communication with teammates and customers to ensure needs are being met accurately and timely in order to achieve high customer satisfactionPerform other duties as assignedManagement Responsibility: The Credit Specialist is an individual contributor to the team and operates under the direction of the Credit Manager.LI-CF1QualificationsEducation and Experience:High School diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred) and a minimum of 2 years business to business collections experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge & Skills:Working knowledge of billing and collections proceduresStrong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to speak effectively to guests and teammates; strong call handling skills including exceptional active listening abilityWorking knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications with the ability to learn new and existing company specific software applicationsExcellent organizational skills with the ability manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlinesAbility to take initiative in identifying problems, collecting data, and establishing facts in order to produce practical decisions and solutionsBasic math skillsStrong customer service skills with the ability to interact with diverse personalitiesWork Environment & Physical Requirements:This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners and fax machines. Position requires prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer and extensive phone usage.
