Reporting to our Quality Assurance Manager, our Data QA Analyst is responsible for analyzing requirements, as well as developing and executing test scenarios and test cases to support our custom-developed Data Warehouse, ETL, BI, Reports, and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems. This includes activities using Microsoft SQL (T-SQL), SSIS, reporting (SSRS), and analytics (SSAS). After learning Cottonwood''s business model and database structures for new solutions, you will set up test data, execute test cases, and report/track software bugs to closure. Here at Cottonwood, we operate very quickly and time to market is imperative for projects that affect income. Using your experience in data engineering, coupled with our existing test solutions, you will execute test scripts that complement our existing test suite. In addition, you will support the software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering, to user acceptance and regression testing, through production release. This position is based at our Administrative Office (HQ) in Irving (Las Colinas), Texas.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze requirements and decompose them into test scenariosCreate, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases against our software platforms based on an analysis of requirements, user stories, use cases, and technical design specificationsIdentify / Setup test data required to complete test executionIdentify, monitor, and track system bug and support resolution efforts promptlyCollaborate with product and integration development teams to enhance knowledge of business systems to better contribute to the backend, functional, and regression testing suitesProvide daily progress report and test results to effectively communicate software test results & bugs to invested stakeholdersDevelop a deep understanding of business processes and integration points to provide a more robust end to end testingWork with team leadership to develop test schedules and tasks to deliver high-quality productsAssure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirementsCreates Requirements Traceability Matrix and Test Summary reports once testing is completedWork closely with other team members, business analysts, support team, Data Warehouse, ETL, BI, Reporting, and data developers to deliver high-quality products in a timely and cost-effective mannerFoster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvementRequirementsBachelor''s Degree or equivalent Military/other experienceAt least 3 years of experience data and reports testingAt least 3 years of experience in writing and executing Microsoft SQL queriesAt least 3 years of work experience in writing/executing test cases and creating defectsKnowledge of Relational and Dimensional data modelingStrong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organizationCustomer service-oriented and self-starter"¯Local (Dallas/Fort Worth area) candidates only - no relocationMust be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and not require sponsorship in the futurePreferred QualificationsExperience in testing backend processes like ETL, Batch Jobs, and BI ReportsExperience using any test management tool like Azure DevOps, Jira, ALM, Rally or any similar toolAny QA testing certification (like ISTBQ / CSTE) is a plusExperience on any back-end test automation tool is good to haveKnowledge of Microsoft development tools SSIS, SSAS, SSRS is idealExperience testing data visualization, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Tableau, QlikView, or Power BIExperience in system testing, integration testing, end to end testing, and regression testing, is an advantageExperience/Knowledge in Finance practice such as accounting and general ledger Agile methodology experience (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, etc.)Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and critical thinking skillsCompensationAnnual salary of $77,000BenefitsMedical, dental, and visionVoluntary life/ AD&DShort-term & long-term disability401K with company matchPaid vacation, holidays, and sick timePaid maternity, paternity, bereavement, extended medical leave, and jury dutyCorporate discount program on "personal cell phone accounts" with select providersCorporate discount program on Microsoft 365 "Home Use Program"Business casual work environment About Cottonwood Founded in 1996, Cottonwood Financial is one of the largest privately held retail consumer finance companies in the United States.
