Job Summary The Buyer has responsibility for securing natural raw materials to maintain the operations of Sensient Colors America businesses. This position requires execution of both tactical and strategic elements of Procurement to maximize service level to customers at minimum cost while maintaining the world class quality that is associated and consistent with the company''s policies and procedures. Responsibilities Secure the necessary raw material in an effort to meet/exceed service level objectives for both internal and external customers while meeting or exceeding quality and cost objectives. Integrate Materials Requirement Planning functions with the Sales and Operation Planning process to enable automated procurement activities and perform analysis and provide recommendations for changes in raw material demand. Maintain alternate suppliers in accordance with company objectives; To be identified as an alternate, supplier must be approved and material specifications documented Meet budgeted spend objectives and manage the Cost Savings Initiative Program for suppliers assigned to position, delivering on annual savings objectives Coordinate and manage inventory targets for all raw materials assigned to the position; Meet Cash Conversion Cycle objectives associated with raw materials inventory levels Responsible to constantly seek improved ways and methods to better serve customers, external and internal. Timely communication and master data updates of raw material costs to finance, supply chain and marketing functions Provide purchasing service and information for other departments and affiliates as assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Provide input on purchasing updates monthly to Purchasing Manager for presentation to leadership teams Perform quarterly evaluations of supplier performance and coordinate with the supplier for corrective actions required to maintain service and quality levels. Manages suppliers and raw materials assigned which includes but is not limited to: Negotiation of contracts for materials and/or services Performing analysis and evaluations of alternative supply and cost benefits associated Coordination with suppliers concerning supply exceptions, complaint resolution, billing errors, return of rejected or obsolete material, etc. Expediting of open orders with suppliers to meet production schedules and customer expectations Coordination with import brokers for supply of overseas materials. Coordination with supplier for required regulatory documentation to maintain supplier qualification. Coordinates with the planning department to arrange for scheduling and delivery of materials to meet production and customer service levels. Coordinates, consolidates, interprets market conditions of purchase goods in conjunction with requesting department. Participates and coordinates with Sensient Corporate purchasing groups in conducting sourcing projects across multiple Sensient locations to leverage Sensient spend. Responsible for implementation of the sourcing project at the St Louis location upon completion. Development for initiating standard costs, inventory control records and data process printouts for Purchasing Department. Works cooperatively with internal Quality Control to achieve / maintain approval supplier status for both suppliers and individual material Education & Experience Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a four (4) year college program. Three to five (3 - 5) year minimum experience in Procurement in order to acquire knowledge of the principles, concepts and methodology of a profession, along with supplemental complementary training. Also beneficial is the acquired knowledge of the principles, concepts and methodology of the purchasing, traffic and inventory control professions. JD Edwards Enterprise One experience highly desirable with knowledge of ERP systems processes.
