Notes to Applicants POSITION OVERVIEW:This position is responsible for the oversight and project management of initiatives and activities that pertain to the ongoing impacts of public use on Watershed Protection Department (WPD) lands; Coordination with the land management program activities within the Division/Department/City relative to improper use of WPD land, homeless encampments, and restoration. This position will manage multiple elements/projects to ensure compliance with State and Local regulations; Manages the activities of multiple contractors, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and actively participates with other City-wide initiatives to address impacts of public use on City of Austin (COA) land and assets; Responsible for an operation budget and oversight of contracts and contractors; Reporting on program progress on a regular basis.DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION: Provide daily oversight and scheduling of program activities for contractors or staff related to encampment identification, prioritization, and cleanup. Provide communication and coordination of complaint resolution activities with internal and external customers as may be necessary. Establish and ensure program standards, methods, policy and procedures for contractors and staff related to encampment identification, prioritization, and cleanups; land management, vegetation maintenance and restoration activities are followed. Ensure established SOPs for performance measure tracking and record keeping are followed in Maximo, AMANDA, GIS or other identified databases or asset management tracking systems. Monitor budget and work with Division Manager and finance representatives to oversee multiple contracts and contractors providing services related to encampment cleanups and land management activities. Establish contacts and coordinate ongoing outreach and community engagement activities associated with homelessness social services, encampment management, floodplain restoration and WPD land management; attend meetings and events. Work with WPD GI, PIO and Education staff to ensure accurate information regarding program activities is available for citizen service requests, public information requests and media inquiries; provide written or on-camera interviews. Experience and knowledge of land management activities for safety, inappropriate uses of floodplains/drainage assets, and restoration. Experience working with diverse (customer) communities; coordination and outreach activities. Experience with the Maximo computerized maintenance management system. Ability to travel to more than one work location. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following.
