Since 1969, we''ve led the industry in developing innovative technologies for recycling scrap into high-quality steels that are all around us, from bridges and buildings to cars and appliances.Basic Job Functions: Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is seeking a highly skilled Application Developer to join our MES Development team and work closely with our team of analysts and app developers. This position provides the successful candidate an opportunity to become a key team player offering technical expertise supporting Nucor''s manufacturing execution system (MES) development and implementation. Application Developer Responsibilities: Develop, test, and deliver code that meets defined requirements. Support and document existing and future development. Execute assigned project tasks within schedule. Provide timely and effective user support. Translate business requirements into technical solutions. Work with project leads in developing and executing project plans. Deliver business values Nucor team by developing and coding solutions in existing MES systems (PSI). Develop MES interfaces with other systems - Level 2 and ERP (eBS). Develop MES report solutions - Crystal Report. Observe user feedback to recommend solution improvements. Develop and update technical design documents. Research and evaluate relevant technologies and solutions. Develop and update technical design documents. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree in Computer science, or related fields, or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years of experience in SQL and at least one of the popular programming languages (C, Python) Excellent understanding of general software application development principles and practices. Preferences: Demonstrated ability to produce readable, maintainable, and shippable code. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Technical experience in manufacturing environment. Experience with QMOS, PSI or other MES Systems. Experience with SQL, REST Web Services, ASP.NET, C, Python Experience with version control tools - Subversion, Git Experience with Jira - project tracking tool
