Job Summary: Provide acute and primary care services in the outpatient setting. Responsible for the provision of primary pediatric care, pediatric care for acute, and medical screening exams for both walk in and scheduled visits as well as provide back-up and vacation coverage for primary care providers. Utilize knowledge, skill and expertise in pediatrics to provide primary and acute care to currently established primary care patients. Collaborate with the family (patient, if appropriate) in the provision of high-quality acute issues and primary care. Clinical workload will consist of 10 half-day clinic sessions per week. Provide acute care and ER/IP follow up. Provide well-child care in conjunction with the primary care providers. Provide services related to health maintenance and promotion. Establish diagnoses for common short-term and chronic health conditions. Order and conduct timely follow up on laboratory and radiologic tests. Perform other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated. Prescribe medications as appropriate. Perform medical screening exams for patients that present to the acute care clinic. Consult and/or refer patients to licensed physicians or other health care providers as indicated. Review laboratory results, consultant examinations and emergency room dispositions and follow-up on those requiring intervention. Provide urgent care as indicated. Appropriately documents all findings concisely and completely utilizing the electronic medical records system, ensures all entries are dated and signed within 48 hours of the patient visit. Participate in special projects and quality initiatives as assigned by Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and Outpatient Executive Director. Educate patients on appropriate use of ER services and develops materials supporting increased patient knowledge in this area. Serve as a resource and consultant for other providers, nurses, and other staff members within clinic. Assist in education of patients, nurses, and other clinical team members.
