Primary function: This position entails the requisition of materials within the plant as planned, to maintain a master schedule for the department. The Materials Coordinator sorts and distributes shop packets and drawings to machine cells and operators and is responsible for revisions, corrections, deletions, as well as additions to work orders and drawings. Furthermore, they are accountable for the status of work in process versus plan to planners or supervisors. The Materials Coordinator is to detect critical needs and advise planners, supervisors and quality while insuring accurate inventory records of material usage through cycle counting. Essentials functions: Assembles and distributes production shop packets to the machine cells inside assigned department. Computes amount of material required to complete production orders. Orders material and coordinates just in time delivery of materials to departments. Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications/requested quantity. Assists in the department and monitoring of machine schedules for all products and parts in specified departments. Escalates issues as necessary to operations, materials, and quality to ensure adherence to production plan while achieving and driving results. Works closely with all functional areas as necessary to ensure that the production plan fulfills customer requirements with the appropriate balance of throughput and inventory requirements. Maintains cycle counts of assigned department and provides accurate reporting to production and materials team for action. Qualifications Basics Qualifications: 1-2 year(s) of experience in manufacturing facility with progressively increasing responsibilities or equivalent experience. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future. No relocation benefit is offered for this position; only candidates residing within the immediate geographic area or reasonable commuting distance will be considered for this position. Position Criteria: Knowledge of planning and scheduling. General knowledge of manufacturing and production as well as forecasting and inventory management procedures. Interpersonal tact and good communication skills, ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment. Must leverage good communication, analytical and PC skills with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively. Preferred qualifications: Two year degree from an accredited institution. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred. SAP experience preferred. Knowledge and use of APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) practices will be looked upon favorably.
