As a Production Planner / Scheduler, you are responsible for organizing and managing the day-to-day activities surrounding customer orders to ensure customer deadlines are met and maximum operational efficiency is achieved. This role is responsible for coordinating production operations, ensuring on time delivery of products, monitoring customer orders, communicating orders to the production floor, and coordinating with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to ensure on-time delivery of customer products. You will serve as the intermediary between elements of the supply chain and will be directly responsible for plant production schedules. You will orchestrate all supply chain efforts with logistics and customer service teams, creating and organizing the most efficient manufacturing schedules that maximize efficiency and productivity to meet customer requirements. How you will impact :Create production schedules that ensure continuous plant operations and prevent plant downtime to minimize profit losses Identify and resolve any inventory issues caused by deviations in orders to enable continuous operations at the plant Ensure waste numbers are minimized by creating smooth and seamless production scheduling for each department in the plantServe as a liaison between the production department and sales department to communicate customer needs and current production abilities Review prior day reports to ensure orders were successfully delivered by carriers and received by customersCommunicate production schedules out to the production floor based on customer orders and upcoming deadlinesCommunicate cross-functionally with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), Sales Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Production Managers, and Mill Managers to facilitate information sharing regarding machine breakdowns, late shipments, expedited orders and modify daily production plans to accommodate new informationPartner with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to coordinate dock times for receipt of inventory from production plant and receipt by customerMake production scheduling and transportation decisions with a high degree of autonomy Communicate production and logistics decisions with cross-functional stakeholders as necessary to ensure alignmentContinuously identify innovative ways to improve trim efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize machine utilizationAssist with on-time shipments to customers by scheduling machines for production runsCommunicate regularly and effectively with manufacturing personnel to ensure production runs are sequenced to meet customer/company objectivesBalance competing needs, metrics (i.e., trim efficiency, shipment time, freight loading optimization) and goals to arrive at the optimal scheduling and logistics solution for all partiesGenerate daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling reports to measure performance and identify solutions to optimize efficiency when appropriateWhat you need to succeed: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required Bachelor''s degree in Business or a related field preferred 5+ year(s) in a box plant or paper mill facility requiredAt least one year of experience in the corrugated industry preferredExperience using Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, WordProven experience with order entry systemsDemonstrated organizational skills to ensure achievement of desired resultsAbility to respond quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated informationExcellent communication skills and ability to interact across all levels of the organization, while accomplishing organizational goals Proven ability to identify and analyze problems while generating and evaluating alternative solutionsMaintain high attention to detail to recognize errors and complete work with thoroughness
