Working in an Emergency Department setting in the inner city provides new and exciting experiences daily!Position: Emergency Department Patient RegistrarCompensation: Full-time, 12-hour shifts, temp-to-hirePosition Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Some college level course work preferred particularly Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant coursework.A minimum of one (1) years'' experience in customer service or healthcare registration is required. In some instances, may require bedside registration.Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention.Ensure patients are registered in a timely manner, ensuring accounts are complete, compliant, and billable and do not require rework or intervention.Provides armbands in a timely manner and verifies all information on the armband with patient to ensure accuracy.Request, collect and document co-pays from patients effectively and efficiently within EMTALA guidelines where applies.Escort and/or direct patient appropriately once registration completed.Secure patient''''s valuables in accordance with PH&S procedures, providing appropriate validation documentation and storing valuables in safe as needed. Return valuables to patients at discharge and complete valuables log.Ensure order entry tasks are completed timely and accurately.Process in-house patient work queues timely and accurately.Ensure all relevant documentation is scanned timely and accurately.For worker comp/labor and industries patients, ensure forms are filled in promptly and accurately and follow through with patients for signature and completion.Present ABN''s and ensure signatures are obtained.Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.Closely adhere to set schedules and handle time standards.Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect.Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to ply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as PH&S policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance.Act as backup to the Information desk as needed at your facility.
