Job Description:Role Summary: Production Service Lead is accountable for the overall reliability of services running in our production environments. We are engineers who engage with product and infrastructure teams at every level, from directly embedding on their teams to tagging in for the gnarliest of production challenges. Our goal is to make Splunk''s production environments more transparent, more predictable, and less cognitively demanding for Splunk''s service owners to operate their services in. Key Responsibilities: Support Major Incidents by adjusting existing or instrumenting new monitoring to address monitoring deficiencies. Support Problem Management''s enterprise root cause analysis (RCA) processes Capture technical information from the relevant stakeholders and synthesize it into useful information in various formats for senior management Knowledge of technical excellence with continuous delivery, automated testing, security methodologies, system performance, and disaster recovery concepts. Capable in navigating through a product outage, skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and figuring out the root cause of incidents Strong ability for using independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems. Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings on complex production issues.Required Skills (Mandatory/ Must Have): 3 or more years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Production Engineer and/ or Backend Software Engineer for web-scale or similar platformsExperience working within an Agile environment Proven experience working with Splunk Must be willing to work on an On-Call support rotationDesired Skills (Nice to Have):5 or more years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Production Engineer and/ or Backend Software Engineer for web-scale or similar platformsUnderstanding of Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, taking in system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols along the way. Deployment tool e.g. puppet / chef / Bladelogic / autosys Database e.g. SQL or NO SQLExposure to any Big Data / Monitoring platforms Coding experience in one or more of Python, Bash, Go or Java.
