Primary Purpose: Support the Sr. Sustainability Manager, Director of Sustainability, VP of Sustainability and operating companies in the development and implementation of the company-wide sustainability strategy. Manage the annual sustainability data collection process including strategies, risks, data analysis, visualization, validation and retention. Respond to investor inquiries and surveys related to sustainability. Support the development of the annual sustainability report and other communications to investors, employees and other audiences with a strong focus on ESG data. Duties and Responsibilities: * Manage the annual company-wide sustainability data collection process, consisting of more than 200 data providers and approvers covering more than 5,000 data points. Implement protocols to enhance data integrity and veracity to meet Sempra''s sustainability reporting obligations. This includes creating and executing sustainability trainings, meeting key deadlines and serving as the sustainability subject matter expert providing technical support and expertise. Drive the continuous improvement and implementation of controls to enhance data accuracy, completeness, integrity and quality. Manage the supporting documentation review process and sustainability report data sourcing. Lead and implement data governance best practices and manage the third-party data collection and reporting software platform; including acting as the company-wide system administrator, building system reports and configuring the system to be most efficient. * Serve as key member of team that develops Sempra''s annual sustainability report, with a focus on aggregation of data, development of charts and graphs and overall content development and data verification. Evaluate and incorporate frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, SDGs, EEI/AGA into our sustainability reporting, KPIs, and goals. * Promote investor engagement by preparing responses to key investor sustainability-related surveys and ESG research and ratings firms. These include the Carbon Disclosure Project, S&P Global (Dow Jones Sustainability Index), Sustainalytics, ISS Ethix, MSCI, JUST Capital, Moody''s (VigeoEIRIS), and others. * Support the establishment of ESG goals and KPIs and the continued measurement and visualization of progress. Report on progress through the annual sustainability report, dashboards, external reporting requirements, and other materials. * Develop an effective and efficient working relationship between the sustainability department and operating company subject matter experts to foster organizational alignment on our sustainability strategy and sustainability reporting efforts. * Support the achievement of the Sempra sustainability strategy and objectives by working closely with the operating companies to define and implement sustainability program requirements in all areas, including operations, risk management, legal, investor relations, corporate communications, supply management, IT/cybersecurity, corporate citizenship, and diversity & inclusion. * Develop and execute materials for internal business partners (e.g. sustainability teams, Steering Committee, investor relations, and Board presentations) to support our sustainability strategy * Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).Other duties include but not limited to: Represent Sempra''s sustainability team, both internally and externally. Proactively collaborate in industry working groups and partner with cross-functional operating company subject matter experts. Lead preparation for periodic internal audits Lead strategic research on ESG trends and management practices to help maintain Sempra''s leadership position. Evaluate Sempra''s performance in context of industry and other ESG leaders. Education: * Bachelor''s Degree in Business, environmental science, sustainability, public policy, accounting Required Experience: * 7+ years related experience and knowledge of the corporate responsibility/sustainability field a plus. Experience with data management and analytics. * Strong understanding of ESG ratings (DJSI, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics) and frameworks. 2+ years experience is preferred. Skills and Abilities: * Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire. * Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to plan and execute interdepartmental projects with autonomy, manage internal and external stakeholders, and adapt workflow as required. * Strong analytical skills and comfort and familiarity working with data systems and excel to analyze quantitative information. Knowledge related to controls to enhance data accuracy. * Ability to gather, understand, organize and manage environmental and other sustainability-related data. * Aptitude in completing a range of surveys from the environmental and investment communities that drive company performance on various industry rankings and investment indices. * Ability to successfully interact with individuals at all levels of the company to gather information and serve as a sustainability subject matter expert. * Ability to work autonomously and accept responsibility. Must be able to plan, organize, manage and lead multiple projects, often under tight time constraints. * Demonstrated high-quality research and analysis skills, including technical aptitude and the ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear insights and conclusions. * Collaborative working style with an ability to be effective both as an individual contributor and project manager in a fast-paced environment. * Experience in the sustainability field with a strong understanding of ESG ratings (DJSI, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics) and frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, SDGs) and trends in disclosure expectations.
