Develops, trains and leads a specially trained team that will provide treatment during the acute stages of stroke. Provides education to health care professionals and community groups to: 1) raise stroke awareness, 2) promote an understanding of stroke risk and the urgency with which stroke symptoms must be dealt with; and 3) address stroke prevention and the latest treatment options for VMFH. Work also includes maintaining The Joint Commission certification for the primary stroke center that incorporates the full range of current know-how in stroke assessment/prevention, early identification and treatment strategies, rehabilitation and secondary stroke prevention and community education. Work requires professional nursing knowledge and experience to provide clinical expertise and support for emergent stroke care coverage. A complex level of knowledge of patient care standards/practices that incorporate current stroke nursing standards, regulatory requirements, best practices, outcomes research and advances in technology is required. Essential Duties:Develops and delivers educational and training activities provided to patients, VMFH staff, and the community.Assists in the development of marketing strategies and promotional materials for the Stroke Program that are designed to enhance brand awareness, expand market share and increase revenue to VMFH; collaborates in the development of promotional campaigns for stroke health/prevention.Creates, updates, revises, and ensures compliance of policies and procedures for the Stroke Program.Maintains Joint Commission, State, and Community certification and regulatory compliance of stroke program.Performs related duties as required.QualificationsEducation/Experience:Associate''s degree in Nursing and four years of related clinical work experience, including two years nursing experience in an ICU setting and/or management of stroke patients. Bachelor''s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred.License/Certification:Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of pletion of NIH Stroke Certification within 30 days of employment in the position.
