TITLE: Laboratory TechnicianTYPE: Contract (5months)LOCATION: Greater Pittsburg AreaSTART DATE: ImmediateSHIFT: 1st and 2nd shifts are availableTRAVEL: Up to 50% local (non-overnight) travel requiredWe are looking to hire multiple Laboratory Technicians to support clinical laboratories in and around Greater Pittsburg Area. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing the qPCR process from start to finish in a high complexity, high-throughput CLIA/CAP certified environment.RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Follow the laboratory''s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. Perform oral and nasal swabbing. As you gain more experience, the amount of swabbing will decrease, and the amount of lab work will increase. Use quality control policies to document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed. Apply established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory''s established acceptable levels. Document all corrective actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory''s established performance. Specifications; and perform high complexity testing only under the onsite, direct supervision of a general supervisor.REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of a bachelor''s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Forensics, Genetics, or related field. A Master''s degree is a plus 6+ months of professional experience working with PCR, qPCR, and/or RT-PCR is a must-have. Unpaid, academic experience is good but does not count towards the 6-month requirement. Strong understanding of modern laboratory techniques. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Meets education and experience equivalent to guidelines mandated by Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Based on the work assignment, a recommendation to have medical testing following the company''s Occupational Health Program. Reliable transportation, driver''s license, clean driving record, and the ability to travel to local sites to perform the job responsibilities. Ability to be flexible with scheduling to come in a few hours earlier or later than ''typical shift due to fluctuation in demand.EOE Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer.
