With our combined resources CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable and innovating how and where healing can happen both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesJob Summary / Job PurposePlans and organizes the technical aspect of the Endoscopy service, in collaboration with the designated charge nurse, to provide quality service to physicians and care to patients. Maintains active communications with charge nurse and designated manager to ensure quality care and assist in issue resolution.Essential Functions* Gives direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the endoscopy RNs.* Responsible for the care, handling, and processing of all of the endoscopy equipment and instruments.* Prepares and sets up for all GI and pulmonary endoscopy procedures ensuring that the correct equipment and supplies are available during the case.* Ability to assist the physicians as needed with equipment and supplies consistent with their job classification.* Knowledge of all complex and therapeutic GI/Pulmonary procedures performed in the unit.* Ability to set up table, instruments and and supplies according to the type of case. Assists with room turnover.* Able to recognize and communicate any patient issues to RN or physician during the procedure.* Maintains supplies and stocks procedure rooms and travel carts during down time.* Assists with tracking locations and maintaining inventory of equipment.* Disinfects and cleans scopes and equipment according to SGNA/ASGE standards and hospital policy.* Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsSkills, Knowledge or Abilities critical to this role: * Must have strong relationship building skills and the ability to make and use connections throughout KentuckyOne Health to maintain strong partnerships with other departments. * Must have strong initiative and be able to gather and analyze information skillfully and be able to brainstorm alternative resources and directions. * Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageable parts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input from several sources. * Must be detail orientated in gathering relevant data while attending to essential details; checks work for accuracy and quality. * Must be able to problem-solve by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner, as well as develop alternative solutions when needed. * Must have great flexibility and the ability to continually look for ways to make appropriate adjustments and changes - rather than identifying why things cannot be accomplished - in order to meet to the changing needs of the organization and the department. Language Ability: * Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret common and industry-related documents. * Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, families, KentuckyOne staff and the general public. Reasoning Ability: * Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deliver successful results. Computer Skills: * Must have the capacity to learn relevant systems, EMR, and databases, as needed.Job Requirements / QualificationsEducation / Licensure (required & preferred): High School diploma or equivalent and BLS (required).Experience (required and preferred): Three years'' experience in the Endoscopy Technician role.
