Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual this role you will be responsible for Research and Development (R&D), the R&D Project Manager - Software plans, leads, schedules and controls the software development, release, and deployment process, in Drive Products - Motion in New Berlin, Wisconsin.Reporting to the Director, Research and Development, you will be responsible to lead, schedule, plan, and control the software development, release and deployment process. Coordinate across R&D, product management, operations, and program management to determine the potential value of a software release.Your responsibilitiesWork across release teams to ensure a timely test schedule and roll-out of a quality software release to production and sales, Coordinate with team Product Owners and Scrum Masters to align the committed release work into PIs and Sprints and to understand the impacts of branches, freezes, and code mergesWork with the Agile Coaches to determine the application of the FW Release Model and contribute to the improvement of Agile methodology for configuration management and software developmentWork with Product Management to set scope, MVP, release deliverables, and desired timeline for release of a consumable solution for customersWork with Program Management and other Release Managers to schedule release readiness reviews before each milestone toward deployment and to work through any priority issues and Forecast release timeline with consideration of development schedules and the need to pay down technical debt by resolving necessary bugsIdentify risks, create time for discussion and mitigation of risks that impact scope, schedule, and /or quality, and create means to quickly resolve issues to deliver a quality productDetermine the overall SW release project budget and work with individual teams to determine their roll-up to the overall budget and Maintain proper communication across teams to update release stakeholders, Compile Release Notes and inform teams of release progressDefine and track performance metrics across teams participating in the release and Work with technical teams to plan appropriate measures (e.g. testing plans, features, development schedules, team collaboration) to ensure current and future market requirements are met through timely software releases to productionFollow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations, Practice and enforce strict compliance with all safety rules whenever subordinates are working on energized electrical equipment and help enforce such safety standards with others who may be involved in work on such energized equipmentYour backgroundBachelor''s degree in technical field (electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science preferred) and minimum 8 years of related experience in R&D or product development ORMaster''s degree in technical field (electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science preferred) and minimum 5 years of related experience in R&D or product development3-5 years of previous software release and/or project management experience (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)Travel less than 15Êndidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USBenefitsRetirement planLife insuranceDisability insuranceMedical insuranceWellbeing programMore about usABB Drive Products is a technology leader serving industries, infrastructure and machine builders with world-class drives and softstarters.
