Your role: The Senior Network Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. What you''ll do all day: Work in close coordination with project managers, and other service area representatives to coordinate network design and implementation efforts. Serve as a project expert and provides technical contribution to facilitate project completion in order to satisfy contractual requirements according to high-level architectural designs. Review documentation to ensuring engineering quality, and maintain responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team. Communicate activity status through multiple venues, and provide quantitative project reports to the project managers and Delivery Team Lead. Have primary duties that include the design, configuration, installation, and test of IT network and boundary protection devices and systems at MDA remote site locations. Secondary duties to include Network Design support for the IT Services Team; developing and providing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans. Will also be responsible for ushering proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation for transition to the O&M RBA teams. Recommended expertise to include Cisco, Palo Alto, and KG-175 Taclane. Be responsible for conducting site surveys, installing and configuring network and boundary protection solutions; acting as program liaison; and assisting in data collection and validation efforts at each location. Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Design and plan network communications systems. Conduct testing of network design. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Position may require up to 75% travel in support of MDA remote site integration activities You will love this job if you: Are a self-starter and require little oversight to complete given tasks Enjoy a fast-paced work environment Love working with diverse groups of individuals, including engineers and technicians Are good at communicating with people Have a positive attitude Enjoy multitasking Minimum requirements for this position: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 10 years of general experience; Associate''s degree and 8 years of general experience; Bachelor''s degree and 6 years of general experience; Master''s degree and 4 years of general experience. Must have 6 years of directly related experience Must have network technical experience with a solid understanding of Cisco internal and external routing protocols Must have local and long-haul data transmission mediums experience (RS-530, T1, OC-x, etc.) Must have experience w/multicast technologies Must have, or obtain within 90 days, a current DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II certification Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance Desired skills and experience for this position: Have Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP Have knowledge of architecture frameworks (i.e. DoDAF, TOGAF, etc.) Have experience in requirements development and management What we offer: Competitive salaries.
