Plant Name: Charlotte ICS - 101040 Requisition ID:008907--Plant The DOT Compliance Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the product safety and regulatory compliance program(s) to ensure product compliance with various regulations and packaging safety standards. This position determines, monitors, and maintains competency of plant personnel in conjunction with the Innovation and R&D Department with responsibilities in UN/DOT certification. Additionally, this positions assists with product compliance issues as well as product technical support issues. Responsibilities: Maintain regulatory UN/DOT compliance instruction, UN/DOT audit templates, and training materials needed to ensure a consistent and measurable process throughout the organization. Manage and complete DOT testing/capabilities/reporting. Initiate/Implement/Verify Corrective Actions. Develop and maintain training programs and materials. Lead or assist in the training of designated individuals who participate in the company test/compliance programs. Determine, assess, update and manage changes to the company training system for UN/DOT related training roles. Responsible for auditing regulatory compliance with applicable DOT regulations. Conduct regulatory audits verifying location specific level of regulatory compliance. Follow up on audit activities or findings to closure. Collaborate with all relevant departments to develop processes and procedures that meet the current and future product regulatory compliance regulations and standards. Promote continuous improvement and harmonization of existing regulatory compliance programs, procedures, and tools to ensure efficient compliance with regulatory requirements. Well-versed with all relevant product regulatory regulations/initiates in terms of requirements (timing, execution, documentation, reporting, auditing, etc.). Assist in Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing practices OTHER DUTIES Participate in the investigation and root cause analysis of any test failures, both internally and externally. Participate and support regulatory investigations, and corrective actions. Ensure that needed adjustments to compliance programs take place as a result. Provide product technical guidance to internal and external customers, including materials selection, design, manufacturing, testing, and end-user problem solving Interface with Plant Leadership and personnel along with the Innovation and R&D Department Performs other duties as assigned. Bachelor''s degree in a relevant technical or scientific field required with commensurate work-related experience. Prior experience in industrial manufacturing Highly motivated, analytical and results oriented Strong communication skills both one-on-one and group as well as the ability to conduct instructor led training. Ability to interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations. Previous experience in Lean manufacturing (including Kaizen, 6S, SPC, Gemba) Solid understanding of: Quality systems (ISO 9001), OSHA, EPA/DEP regulations. Exceptional reading comprehension, problem solving skills, decision-making skills and attention to detail. Offer highest level of innovation and problem-solving skills to influence overall efficiency, avoidance of lawsuits, improvements in productivity, outcomes, etc. Competency with MS Office Suite Able to travel 50%
