Eaton''s Aerospace Fluid Electrical Distribution Division is currently seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Bethel, CT facility. The Lead Design Engineer is responsible for providing engineering solutions for pressure transducer and pressure switch products that comply with customer requirements. In this role, you will provide technical ownership of a specific product line / focus area by pursuing alternative design approaches and processes while taking market trends and best practices into account. In this function you will: Provide engineering solutions that meet customer performance, weight, cost, and schedule requirements. Work closely with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous end-use requirements. Provide technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery. Be responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system. Ensure compliance to quality system requirements. Provide technical ownership of specific product line. Take initiative to pursue alternative design approaches and technologies that will improve overall product performance. Proactively learns processes and technologies to support design efforts. Establish technical requirements for fabricated and procured components. Selects materials, finishes, processes, and dimensions required to meet design intent. Works closely with manufacturing engineers, designers, and suppliers to create and release detail and assembly drawings to achieve customer requirements. Visits suppliers and customers as required. Perform vibration, thermal, fluid dynamic, and tolerance analyses to verify compliance. Use FEA and manual approaches as required. Perform both mechanical and electrical design tasks associated with electromechanical sensors. Provide "hands on" support to manufacturing during machining, assembly, and test of prototype and production hardware. Host design reviews with customers on-site and offsite. Demonstrates ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes. Reviews customer specifications and drawings. Be responsible for design verification and validation testing to determine design compliance. Support product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years mechanical design / project engineering experience. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder''), Political Asylee, or Refugee. No relocation is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 60 miles of the Bethel, CT facility. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: Master''s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Electromechanical, electrical circuit design, MEMS sensor integration, pressure sensing and/or aerospace industry experience. Position Success Criteria: Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal peers. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, stress analysis, magnetic properties, seal design, fluid analysis, thermal analysis, materials and processes, requirements management, corrective action, structural & thermal analysis, DFSS. Understands failure modes associated with mechanical systems and is familiar with available market technologies. Understands and manages all technical aspects for assigned projects. Understands mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods. Knowledgeable in simple electrical circuit design, component selection, and circuit analysis. Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma principles. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $84,720 - 116,490. As a contractor with the Federal government, Eaton is subject to the Executive Order mandating COVID-19 vaccination.
