To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Recreation Assistant to join its Recreation & Wellness - Skatepark . The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCoordinate and monitor recreation activities at City of Houston Skatepark(s).Inspect the facility each day to determine unsafe conditions and submits work orders as needed.Teach youth skateboarding classes; monitor activities, and special events and enforce facility rules and regulations with participants and general public.May resolve problems and counsel participants; assist with facility preparation for programs and activities and assist with facility and equipment maintenance.Must be a positive role model for youth, promoting non-violent actions. May be responsible for opening and closing facilities.Must be able and willing to work evenings, weekends and Holidays as needed.WORKING CONDITIONSThis position will require stooping, bending, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to work outdoors.
