Our deep brain stimulation technology for progressive diseases help people manage their Parkinson''s disease and essential tremor symptoms, steering away from side effects.Our location in Plano,TX currently has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer - Continuous Improvement. As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for driving cultural change through molding the continuous improvement and root cause problem solving mindset of the organization. Working closely with the cross functional Value Stream teams, this position will design, develop, standardize, and implement Operations methods intended to continuously improve manufacturing system performance and culture.WHAT YOU''LL DO•Analyzes, creates and implements manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce work in process and improve the quality, cost and delivery performance of Abbott.•In conjunction with the Value Stream teams, supports productivity, quality, process efficiency, space utilization, standardization and lead time improvement efforts.•Launching and/or maintaining an internal Lean / Six Sigma educational program•Identifies opportunities and drives incorporation of appropriate Lean tool usage such as 5S, time study, line balancing, standard work, material flow and value stream mapping, process mapping and Kaizen event into the daily functions of continuous improvement.•Implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers.•Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate product supply issues internally or at suppliers.•Makes recommendations to teams, which drive higher yielding, lower cost, more manufacturable products. May use financial analyses tool and recommend alternative courses of action.•Convinces internal customer to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes.•Participates in identification and planning of department goals, development, standardization and implementation of initiatives intended to improve the quality, cost and delivery performance of Operations.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU''LL BRINGRequiredBachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering related field3+ years engineering work experience, continuous improvement and understanding of specified functional area.Technical/Business Knowledge-Wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures.Application of Lean / Six Sigma or SHINGO principlesStrong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships.Cognitive Skills- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact.PreferredMasters DegreeWHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
