Our talented, compassionate team thrives in an autonomous environment, is empowered and supported by education, training and the resources to practice healthcare the way it is meant to be and strives to ''Always Do The Right Thing!''OverviewUnder the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the per diem Dentist will have the responsibility of providing dental care for the county assigned in compliance with all applicable dental standards, state and federal regulations and laws.QualificationsEducation for Dentist:Graduate of an accredited Dental School.Experience for Dentist:• Prefer correctional/detention facility experience• Minimum 3 years'' of experience, and correctional experience is preferredLicenses/Certifications for Dentist:• Unrestricted current dental license from the state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHAResponsibilitiesProvide and supervise dental care of persons servedRelief of pain and treatment of acute and chronic infections Extraction of unsalvageable teethProvide fillings to eligible patients, as needed Provide Phase One Periodontal Services to eligible persons served, as neededDetects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums; using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession; exposing and developing radiographic studiesMaintains persons served appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances; placing, carving, and finishing amalgam restorations; removing cement from crowns and bridgesEnsure that all dental equipment is clean and in good working orderFunction as a consultant to health services staff physician regarding dental issuesProvide in-service training for health services staff on issues such as dental hygiene, dental care, and dental emergencies annuallyDocument all services provided and refused in persons served dental/medical record Provide direct supervision to the dental assistant and hygienistOversee that the sharps log daily and accurate with each dental clinicOversee the ordering of dental supplies and instrumentsEnsure that dental facility and procedures meets both OSHA and Dental Board of California requirementsObserve HIPPA guidelines as it applies to a custodial environment to maintain confidentiality of persons served health informationChart all findings in persons served record providing written summaries of history, diagnosis, treatment plan, treatment and other documentation requirements including necessary persons served conversations and as outlined by the company and FacilityMay assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staffMay assist for orientation and training of new employeesContribute to the performance evaluations and successful training of direct reportsPerform other duties as assigned.Wellpath is an EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability Employer
