Director, Language Access Services

Responsibilities The Director of Language Access Services directs a comprehensive language access program, including interpretation and translation services across the Wellstar Health System, and demonstrates a commitment to leveraging technological solutions to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the delivery system. Within established organizational and department policies and procedures, the Director is responsible for department operations and financial performance in working to achieve clinical, financial, strategic, and operational goals. The Director ensures that all regulatory, accreditation and industry standard requirements are met on a continual basis including, but not limited to federal regulations and mandates, The Joint Commission, CLAS Standards, and NCIHC/RID/NAD recommendations for best practice and access to competent interpreters. The Director commits to the access of high quality, timely, and effective interpreter, and translation services on a 24- hour basis, 365 days a year across the Wellstar Health System. This individual acts as the primary advocate for the triadic relationship between an interpreter, patient and medical team member and provides direct services to patients, companions, and employees, when appropriate. The Director supervises a team of interpreters, department manager, program coordinators, lead interpreters, and staff interpreters ensuring customer satisfaction, efficient/effective use of resources, teamwork, innovation, and performance improvement, as required. The Director participates in all decision-making processes that have an impact on linguistically diverse communities, including, but not limited to, the development of educational programs and seminars on the topic of language access, throughout the Wellstar Health Care System.
