Distribution Center Manager

OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Distribution Center/Warehouse Manager to join our team in Savannah, GA. In this role, the DC Manager is responsible for the overall management of the DC and promotes excellent customer service in order to maximize profits and productivity of the business.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdditional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Manages and coordinates the activities of the distribution center within budget and productivity standards. Leads by example, communicates information through regular and on-going team meetings with employees and team leaders. Provides training on new operational policies and procedures. Determines performance expectations, evaluates performance, and provides coaching and opportunities for development. Addresses employee issues in a timely fashion. Assures that all performance evaluations for material handlers and team leaders are completed in a timely manner. Promotes teamwork. Responsible for achieving targeted objectives in productivity and quality, timeliness, and controlling costs within budget. Produces management reports. Maintains visible presence in the distribution center, assists in material handling related activities during peak periods, absences and as needed to maintain service levels. Continuously seeks process and procedure improvements and efficiencies to promote productivity and quality. Maintains ongoing responsibility and oversight for the safety and security of the building. Manages and maintains customer relations with branches, vendors and internal and external customers through regular site visits and assures all service commitments are met on a daily basis. Evaluates the performance of carriers based upon delivery, quality, and price and recommends carriers who meet delivery and cost requirements and expectations. Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.QualificationsEducation: BS in Management or related field or equivalent work experience.Experience: Minimum of 6 years of related experience with demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.Knowledge Essential to the Position Distribution industry Product/service Material Handling principles Transportation WMS systemPhysical Requirements Capable of lifting and moving materials up to 70 lbs, with assistance if necessary. May be required to operate fork lift equipment. Other: Required to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs.
