Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, our Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (aka Quality Assurance Engineer III) is responsible for planning, implementing, leading, and executing all aspects of Quality and Testing. The role requires hands-on QA expertise, the ability to take initiative, and develop and evolve our QA processes. You will analyze the systems to determine what to test, the priority of those tests, and the best way to test our custom-developed applications. You will also be responsible for supporting setting up test environments, testing data, executing test cases, and reporting/tracking software bugs to closure. Here at Cottonwood, we operate very quickly and time to market is imperative for projects that affect income. Using your experience in software engineering and quality assurance, coupled with our existing test automation solutions, you will execute automated test scripts that complement our existing test suite. In addition, you will support the software development life cycle (SDLC) from the early stages in requirements gathering, to user acceptance and regression testing, through production release. This position is based at our Administrative Office (HQ) in Irving (Las Colinas), Texas.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide mentoring and guidance to other members of the Test Automation team and Manual QA teamsAnalyze requirements and decompose them into test scenariosConduct bug triage meetings and track QA / UAT / Production bugs to closureEstablish and evolve formal QA processes and procedures across all projects and teamsOversee all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are metAct as the key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services, and coordinating QA resources internally and externallyIdentify Test environment requirements for both QA and UAT and a handoff to UATLead QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers at onsite and offshore working across multiple agile sprint teamsCreate, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases against our software platforms based on an analysis of requirements, user stories, use cases, and technical design specificationsIdentify / Setup test data required to complete test executionCollaborate with product and integration development teams to enhance knowledge of business systems to better contribute to the functional and regression testing suites and accompanying automation teamProvide daily progress reports and test results to effectively communicate software test results & bugs to invested stakeholdersDevelop a deep understanding of business processes and integration points to provide more robust end-to-end testingWork with team leadership to develop test schedules and tasks to deliver high-quality productsCreate Requirements Traceability Matrix and Test Summary reports once testing is completedFoster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvementApply competencies in difficult situations with little or no guidanceRequirementsBachelor''s Degree or equivalent Military/other experienceAt least 7 years of work experience including all aspects of IT Quality Assurance in testing websites, Webservices (REST/SOAP), microsites, mobile apps, desktop applications, SQL, BI, and reports for custom-built systemsAt least 4 years of work experience using any standard test management tool like TFS or Azure DevOps or ALM or Jira or any other tool for creating and maintaining test artifactsExperience in system testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, regression testing, cross-browser testing, and mobile device compatibility testingAt least 3 years of experience in writing and executing SQL (T-SQL) queries Experience in using Microsoft Office Tools SuiteExperience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans, and procedures for front end and back end manual testing, test automation tools & framework, security testing, and performance testingStrong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organizationCustomer service-oriented, self-starter, and self-driven IT leaderLocal (Dallas/Fort Worth area) candidates only - no relocationMust be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and not require sponsorship in the futurePreferred QualificationsAny QA testing certification (like ISTBQ / CSTE) or Agile/Scrum certification or any project management certification is a plusExperience in the finance or banking domain is idealFamiliarity with Visual Studio 2013/2015/2017/2019Experience working in cloud technologies, Azure/AWS/GCPExperience with TFS Version control system/Git version control system, Test Explorer / Azure DevOpsAgile methodology experience (Agile, Scrum, or SAFe, etc.)Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and critical thinking skillsCompensationStarting annual salary of $92,000Benefits Medical, dental, and visionVoluntary life/ AD&DShort-term & long-term disability401K with company matchPaid vacation, holidays, and sick timePaid maternity, paternity, bereavement, extended medical leave, and jury dutyCorporate discount program on "personal cell phone accounts" with select providersCorporate discount program on Microsoft 365 "Home Use Program"Business casual work environment About Cottonwood Founded in 1996, Cottonwood Financial is one of the largest privately held retail consumer finance companies in the United States.
