The project is approx. 3 million SF with more than 200 buildings on campus. The Lead HVAC Technician is responsible for the operations, repairs, replacement and preventative maintenance of commercial and industrial air conditioning and heating systems, chillers and boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, water treatment equipment, controls and other building mechanical and electrical equipment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:As a skilled specialist, this position is responsible for servicing, modifying, rebuilding, and repairing the facility HVAC-R equipment. Takes the lead and performs troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance on various types of HVAC equipment and systems (i.e. large Air Handlers, Chilled Water Systems and Cooling Towers, Cooling Rack Air Handling Systems, Hot Water and Steam Boilers, Split Systems - up to 50 tons, package Units 2-100 tons, VAV Systems, Variable Speed Drives). Refer to section 9.D in the TTD.Provides craft guidance, leadership and skills training to less experienced staff.Supports Maintenance Manager with weekly work order schedule development.Oversees all HVAC work and project work in the field.Determines if equipment needs to be overhauled and may overhaul equipment as assigned.Responsible for reporting daily work performed by the HVAC Team.Accountable for reporting all deficiencies found.The individual will be responsible for the direct supervision of the HVAC Mechanics.The individual will help the HVAC Team maintain safe work practices in support of the Cal-OSHA Health and Safety, NFPA 70e and EMCOR ISO 9001 certified quality program.Responsible to review and verify that refrigerant usage logs are properly used and maintained for the site.Able to perform and analyze air balancing reports.Responsible for the completion of all PM and record keeping assigned to his/her areas of responsibility.Performs maintenance on assigned utility carts.Work with the MRO group to provide vendor quotes, and information for ordering material.Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years'' experience as a lead or supervisor.Requires 4-year apprenticeship program or technical schooling with minimum of five or more years of progressive experience as a HVAC mercial Air Balance CertificationUniversal License (EPA - 608).EMCS / BMS experience is required (Niagara N4, or Siemens preferred).Must demonstrate current knowledge of maintenance practices, and concepts.Must have knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety codes and be able to read, interpret and explain schematics and drawings.Must have the ability to resolve complex issues that require analysis, evaluation and interpretation.Must have knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications and email).Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.Ability to read and write in the English Language.Valid CA driver''s license.Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player.Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.Provide own basic hand tools.Physical Demands:Must be able to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders and work at various heights.EMCOR Government Services requires all employees to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
